Description: The DAV Car Initiative: In partnership with the police, the DAV Car project provides officers with support on their response to domestic abuse incidents. Volunteers accompany officers to incidents and provide on-the-spot advice and guidance about the services that Fortalice can offer. About the Volunteer Role: As a Crisis Car Volunteer, you’ll work alongside police officers to visit individuals at home. Your role involves offering guidance and support and signposting individuals would benefit from specialist support to the appropriate agencies (e.g., debt advice, alcohol support). Key Duties: • Provide holistic support to victims of domestic abuse. • Signpost individuals to appropriate agencies for further support. • Report issues promptly and attend regular update/supervision meetings. • Maintain accurate records according to Data Protection Act 2018 and Fortalice procedures. Requirements: • Must be 18+ years old. • Female applicants only (as per Section 7.2e of the Equality Act 2010). • Willingness to undergo training and develop skills. • Reliable and flexible to meet the needs of the service. • Empathy and a non-judgmental approach. • Good communication and teamwork skills. • Valid driving license and access to own transport (desirable). • Basic IT skills (Microsoft Word) (essential). • Commitment of at least 12 months post-training. • Previous community work experience is desirable, but not essential. Commitment Required: 3-4 hours per week, with opportunity to volunteer more. Volunteering takes place within the Bolton area. Additional Information: • Training, supervision, and development opportunities provided. • Enhanced DBS check and two references required. • DBS fee of £38.00 applies if volunteering as part of a course or work placement (Full cost £49.60 less the £11.60 Fortalice would have paid for a volunteer application). • Reimbursement for agreed out-of-pocket expenses.
