Description: At Together Trust we help children, adults, families, and care experienced people with a range of needs, including disabilities, autism, complex health needs, and emotional and social difficulties. We provide residential care, special education, fostering, community services, and a range of other professional interventions. We need volunteers in the Greater Manchester and Bolton area to drive the people we support to a variety of places and activities: from school runs to daytrips, from medical appointments to work experience sessions. Leaving us to do what we do best: provide life-changing care! Tasks and activities: Using a Together Trust vehicle (Multi-Purpose Vehicle, or minibus), perform walk around vehicle checks and then follow instructions to collect and transport people we support from one location to another. This may include people with disabilities and / or challenging behaviours, but you will receive full training and will always be accompanied by a Passenger Assistant. For this role you will need either: • a clean driving licence with category D entitlement OR • a clean driving licence, that you have held for two years or more, and be aged 21 or over (this is a legal requirement for driving minibuses without a category d licence) We are also looking for people who are calm and patient, and who identify with our values of being positive, passionate, professional, and supportive. Location Various – across Greater Manchester and Bolton. Time commitment: We are looking for volunteers who can support with regular school runs in the morning and / or afternoon. Realistically, one return journey per week is likely to take at least two hours therefore we are looking for volunteers who could commit a minimum of two hours per week. We are looking for support on weekdays during term-time. Support for volunteers: You will receive full training for this role and regular support from your volunteering supervisor. You will be able to claim back reasonable out-of-pocket expenses related to your volunteering, including travel expenses.
