Description: About the role: We’re seeking translators of Urdu and/or Gujarati to enhance our services. You’ll become an integral part of our dedicated team, playing a crucial role in bridging communication gaps for women, families, children, and young people. Whether assisting with conversations or providing live translation during meetings, your multilingual expertise and cultural sensitivity will be essential. This role requires quick thinking and a keen attention to detail to ensure that every message is accurately and effectively conveyed. Key Duties: • Provide accurate and contextually appropriate translations of written texts. • Attend meetings and provide real-time translation of discussions. • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure translations maintain the original intent and meaning. • Assist in communicating complex ideas clearly and effectively across language barriers. • Ensure all translations are completed promptly while maintaining a high level of accuracy. • Maintain accurate records of all translations and interactions to ensure consistency and accountability. Requirements: • Female applicants only (as per Section 7.2e of the Equality Act 2010). • Must be 18+ years old. • Must be fluent in spoken Urdu and/or Gujarati, with proficiency in any additional languages a plus. • Be reliable, flexible, enthusiastic and non-judgmental. • Strong communication skills, both over the phone and in person. • Friendly and approachable with the ability to handle distressing situations calmly. • Basic IT skills (Microsoft Word and Excel). • Team player with a willingness to learn and attend training. • Commit to at least 6 months of volunteering post-training. • Experience or awareness of safeguarding is a plus.
