Join us today and be part of the change! What does a Digital Champion do? A Digital Champion is someone who helps others gain the confidence and skills they need to navigate the online world. Whether you're supporting friends, family, colleagues, or people in your community, you'll play a key role in closing the digital skills gap. As a volunteer, you'll assist local people in Great Lever & Oxford Grove Family Hubs offering guidance on using devices, accessing online services, and staying safe online. By becoming a Digital Champion, you’ll empower families, young people, and adults to build their digital confidence, making a lasting impact in your community. You will be working as part of a team of Digital Champions, supported by Starting Point & Bolton Libraries staff, offering informal, basic digital skills support to people who are getting online for the first time. You will be provided with a ton of support and learning resources to help you help your community. What do I need to volunteer as a Digital Champion? To volunteer as a Digital Champion, you’ll need: basic digital skills a passion for helping others discover the benefits of being online enthusiasm, patience, and good communication skills are essential, as you’ll be guiding people at their own pace being confident in sharing your own knowledge and having the tenacity to learn alongside those you support will help you make a positive impact most importantly, you should have a genuine desire to empower others with digital skills that can improve their everyday lives. How much time do I need to volunteer? •  Approximately 2 hours a week. (potentially opportunity for more as the programme develops) Induction Training Date - 14th February between 10.00 am – 2.30 pm at Great Lever Family Hub, Leonard Street, BL3 3AP. Ongoing support and training will be offered following your induction. We are always able to work around holidays and other commitments. Why are we looking for Digital Champions? We are looking for Digital Champions because everyone deserves the opportunity to get online and benefit from the digital world. Many people face barriers such as lack of access to devices, affordable data, and essential digital skills. By volunteering, Digital Champions play a vital role in helping communities overcome these challenges. Bolton Family Hubs and Bolton Libraries are committed to supporting young people and families across the borough, ensuring they have the skills and confidence to navigate the digital world. Digital Champions are key to making this vision a reality by empowering residents with life-changing digital skills. Within our network of centres, we are offering: • a Device Loan Scheme • a National Databank distribution point – offering up to 40GB of mobile SIM data • informal digital skills training – supported by Starting Point, Bolton Family Hubs & Digital Champions. You can be part of this work to help Bolton citizens and communities gain the skills, confidence and access to get online and interact with modern society.
