Safeguarding

Safeguarding means keeping people safe from harm, abuse and neglect.

Safeguarding is everybody’s responsibility.

All groups and organisations have an important role to play in supporting and safeguarding children, young people and adults – from acting on any concerns to ensuring that we follow safe recruitment policies and procedures.

Staff and volunteers should understand their responsibilities and have clear guidance of how to deal with any safeguarding concerns.

Bolton CVS can help your group with safeguarding. We offer:

• Free safeguarding training courses
• Support with developing your policies and procedures
• Support from our Development team
• Supporting with Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Checks

If you have a concern about a child or an adult it is your obligation to report it appropriately.

If anyone is in immediate danger of being harmed, call the police on 999.

Otherwise, for concerns about a child or young person ring 01204 331500. You can also contact the NSPCC:

If you are worried about a child in Bolton, you can find more information on the Bolton Safeguarding Children website.

For concerns about an adult you can make a referral using the online form here. You can also report abuse by email to safeguardingadults@bolton.gov.uk or by phoning 01204 337000

It is essential that all staff and volunteers have completed at least a basic level of safeguarding training.

Bolton CVS run a number of free safeguarding training courses on our Training & Events page.

Bolton Council also offer a range of free safeguarding training courses for children and young people and adults.

Your safeguarding policy is central to your commitment to keeping everyone safe from harm.

These model policy templates for Bolton based organisations include the details of how to report concerns.  They should be tailored to the specific needs of your group and reviewed annually by your committee or board of trustees.
