Peer Navigators is a local, trusted community member who knows what it is like to live in the area, who can enable other local residents to get support they require by being a conduit between them and organisations working and offering services in the area.
The Peer Navigator programme commenced in 2018, offering a unique 18 month employment opportunity to a member of the community. All our Peer Navigators live in the area they work, so, they have lived experience of the community, which they use to influence and shape the delivery of services.
Peer Navigators role varies working on different projects which affects the members of the community. Areas of work could be around; health, environment, resident engagement, social isolation, anti-poverty, cost of living.
Each Peer Navigator working in their unique area will have different priorities which are determined by their aspirations and support needs.
