Who the organisation is for: Only Women
Organisation description: WiN (Women in Neighbourhoods) is a not-for-profit group dedicated to the women of Bolton. WiN helps and supports women in most deprived neighbourhoods throughout Bolton. WiN aims for women empowerment & gender equality. WiN believes food is a powerful tool to engage women from hard to reach communities, reduce social isolation and improve physical and mental well-being with various ongoing projects like HANDI AND ANNAUL COOK OFF, coupled with complimentary engagement and befriending sessions. WiN uses Asset Based Community Development principle and works with women groups across Bolton. Some of these women suffer from high levels of exclusion, bullying, emotional/social/family issues, low self confidence, and often have no aspirations for their future. WiN gives them the opportunity to break the cycle of deprivation and low self esteem and to develop to their full potential. The corner stone of WiN is women empowerment. WiN celebrates positive & successful women role-models through its annual publication Inspirational Women Book & Awards ceremony. The positive role models become part of our TALENT POOL and act as mentors to others. WiN is committed to motivating young girls and women by providing them inspiring role- models through ‘Light Another Candle’ mentoring scheme to engage in education, employment or training. The ‘Building Bridges’ program engages & educates women from BME and under- represented community. Informed Choices ‘Be Safe’ project aims at informing and educating women about gender equality whether it’s about mental or physical abuse, pay- gap, FGM, domestic violence, forced marriages or issues around sexual consent. WiN is about you and your neighbourhood coming together for our town. Our mission is women empowerment and help stop women abuse to effect positive change in Bolton.
