Organisation description: We work with and support a wide range of people of all ages who have an autistic spectrum condition from age 10, their families, guardians and carers, in Greater Manchester. There is no upper age limit. Our work includes personal one to one support to an individual with AS to cope with their disability, with regular group work and activities to address social isolation, improve life skills and improve mental and physical health. We also hold Parent and carer support group meeting once a month primarily for parents of children of all ages with Asperger /Higher Functioning Autism. Additionally we work with employers to raise awareness and arrange appropriate support for service users in the workplace, and operate a telephone and e mail support service Groups are run throughout the year during week days, evenings and weekends. They include: • Evening youth clubs. • Daytime drop-in sessions. • Cooking and gaming groups. • Football, gym, swimming and walking groups. • Days out at a variety of locations • DVD nights, meals out, pub and social nights. • Short Break Holidays. One-to-one support is provided can take many forms depending on the needs of the individual including providing a“listening ear” in addition to developing confidence, for example, using public transport or going shopping, and developing relationships.
