Organisation description: The Ash Pit Growers are developing a small piece of disused land and creating a greenspace that will be open to the community. The name reflects the previous usage as it was used as a place for disposing of ash from local households, it will be regenerated to improve the local environment where there is a lack of accessible green space. We aim to grow food and teach the skills necessary for community members to grow at home, there will be an area for relaxation and an area for play. We are community focussed, and the project is community-led to give participants 'ownership' and take pride in their area. We will run seasonal events as well as regular volunteering sessions using other greenspaces to maximise engagements across the Farnworth area.
