Organisation description: Bolton Black History Group (BBHG) was formed in 2021 during the pandemic. The catalyst for us forming as a group was the slaying of George Floyd. Our early aims as outlined by our constitution was to discover and acknowledge our Afro-Caribbean history and heritage. Then in turn share this knowledge with the wider community and similar community groups. We have continued with the monthly zoom meetings, which was so crucial during the pandemic. Having said that, cultivating and maintaining relationships in the community is part of our remit. Currently, we organise a monthly Warm Space Day, when we provide free Afro-Caribbean meals. Following the meal, we invite speakers to deliver a variety of topics which have included, financial, historical and medical issues. We recently organised a guided tour of the battle Bamber Bridge near Preston. We attract members from all races and genders, and are becoming widely known as the go to group. We liaise with fellow community groups, via social media, and being mutually supportive of each other at organised events.
