Organisation description: The Woodland Trust is a woodland conservation charity. The Smithills Estate project in Bolton is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund to engage Bolton communities with the landscape at our Estate, and to encourage social enterprise on the Estate. It is the largest site owned by the Woodland Trust in England, with a dedicated team based in Bolton. As an organisation, the Woodland Trust protect and campaign on behalf of this country’s woods, plant trees, and restore ancient woodland for the benefit of wildlife and people. Our vision is a UK rich in native woods and trees, for people and wildlife. In Bolton, we have a specific remit to work with local communities to increase access and engagement. Join the Woodland Trust and City of Trees for a monthly activity at Smithills Estate, designed to be suitable for anyone living with a diagnosis of dementia, their families and carers. Join us for indoor and outdoor nature based activities that will improve Health and Wellbeing. Activities include walking, low level practical conservation and woodland crafts. All abilities welcome to join in and have a go.
