Organisation description: STEP TO EMPOWER supports people displaced by the war in Ukraine, especially women with children who have arrived in the UK under the Homes for Ukraine visa scheme. Many of them have lost their homes, belongings, and loved ones and face challenges in adapting to a new country. We provide workshops on goal-setting, emotional resilience, self-confidence, and leadership skills, along with one-to-one support sessions tailored to their needs. This year, we aim to support 50 more participants, helping them rebuild their lives. Our partnerships with the Sunflower Manchester, and the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain (AUGB) allow us to enhance our programs and extend our reach. Positive Impact on People We help participants regain confidence, rebuild self-esteem, and adapt their skills to the UK. Many have achieved remarkable milestones, such as taking on leadership roles, starting volunteer projects, or becoming self-employed. By fostering resilience and leadership, we enable them to move from surviving to thriving and making meaningful contributions to their communities. Positive Impact on the Community Our work benefits local communities by reducing isolation and fostering inclusion. Participants have initiated valuable projects, including supporting local children and organising cultural events like theatre performances. These activities enrich the wider community, building understanding, collaboration, and diversity. Environmental Impact While our focus is on social support, we also promote sustainable living practices, raising participants' environmental awareness. This aligns with broader efforts to encourage eco-friendly and responsible living. Through tailored support and strong partnerships, STEP TO EMPOWER helps individuals and communities grow stronger together, creating lasting positive change.
