Organisation description: Bolton Hot Wheels is a British Cycling Go-Ride Club that provides coaching and opportunities for riders aged 5-16 years to learn and train in a fun and friendly atmosphere. Our main base is Bolton Arena in Horwich, and we do provide cycling opportunities in venues around the borough. The purposes of the Club are to promote the amateur sport of cycling in Bolton and community participation in the same area. Membership of the Club open to anyone interested in the sport on application regardless of sex, age, disability, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, religion or other beliefs. The club has a fleet of high quality bikes available so we can enable children without access to a bicycle of their own to participate in coaching sessions. All coaching activities are provided by qualified volunteer coaches. Our coaches are DBS checked, insured and are British Cycling Qualified Volunteer Coaches. The Club is keen to promote the social side of cycling and encourage all the family to take part in social rides, while also having a strong racing scene. In competitions, our riders have achieved success in many cycling disciplines. The club delivers Go-Ride coaching activity to develop bike handling and riding skills. As our children develop, they have the opportunity to experiences the different sporting disciplines, including circuit racing, velodrome, dirt jumping, velodrome, mountain biking and cyclocross racing. Our qualified coaches deliver structured training in a safe traffic free environment at Bolton Arena. The sessions are differentiated to support the needs of early riders through to experienced racers. Go-Ride races open to all children offer a friendly way to experience competition in a safe, supportive environment. Through the winter months, we focus on cyclocross skills and racing, and take our training sessions indoors for roller training on dark nights. Throughout the year, we lead family rides, to take our members out into the fantastic trails that surround Bolton. We can use the British Cycling network to bring in more advanced skills training, subsidise access to specialist coaches, and access dedicated facilities, at deeply subsidised rates to ensure members from lower income backgrounds are not disadvantaged.
