The organisation’s themes: The Arts/Arts and Crafts
Who the organisation is for: Only Women, Only Men
Organisation description: Blackrod Art Group began as an adult education class about 30 years ago. In 2000 it became an independent group, run and managed by its members. Meetings are held weekly at Blackrod Community Centre (formerly met at Blackrod Methodist Church until July 2020). The group has a membership of over 40, mainly retired people including a large number well over the age of 70. Members are free to draw, paint or make prints using any medium or technique. Help and support are always available from fellow members and beginners are encouraged. We provide a programme for the year which includes visits by professional artists to give demonstrations. We installed an excellent audio-visual system so that the artists' work can be projected enabling everyone a good view. Members are encouraged to share their knowledge and interests with other members. In normal circumstances, visits to art galleries, museums and exhibitions are organised. We feel that we offer a welcoming environment for members and guests and provide community support for members, many of whom who are elderly and live alone. Please note: Our Constitution is in the process of being revised. We will submit the new version when it has been approved at an Annual or Special General Meeting
