In order to be eligible for a grant in the Micro Grants fund your organisation must have an income of less than £100,000 in the last full financial year.

Organisations are eligible for a maximum of one award from the Micro grants fund in a 12 month period.

Please note: you can apply to the Micro Grants fund even if you have received funding in a numbered round of Bolton’s Fund during the past 12 months (as long as your organisation meets the eligibility criteria and you are up to date with any monitoring requirements for any previous grants through Bolton CVS).

You can also still apply for any of the pop-up rounds of Bolton’s Fund if you have been awarded a Micro Grant (as long as you meet the eligibility requirements and conditions for the pop-up round).

Please contact funding@boltoncvs.org.uk if you have a question about your eligibility for a grant.

Community groups, charities and organisations with an income of less than £100,000 in the last full financial year are eligible to apply for a grant from the Micro Grants programme.

Your group or organisation must be based in and/or provide benefit to the people living in the Metropolitan Borough of Bolton.

Bolton’s Fund will not fund work that statutory bodies (such as schools and local authorities) have a duty to fund. Local government or NHS bodies are not eligible for a grant.

The maximum award request in Bolton’s Fund: Micro Grant is £2,000.

All applications must demonstrate how the proposed project will address at least one of the priorities of the fund. Tell us in your application what you want to do and how you know the activity is needed.

Examples of activities that are eligible for funding include;

  • The costs involved in delivering a project or a new activity;
  • Activities for young people;
  • Essential equipment;
  • The administration costs related to delivering your proposed activities;
  • Volunteer and Travel expenses.

Bolton’s Fund will not fund one-off activity that does not demonstrate significant community benefit, or activities of a specific religious nature. Please find details in the ‘What we can fund’ guidance document.

If you have an idea, but you aren’t sure if it will be funded by the Bolton’s Fund, please contact the Bolton CVS Funding Team before submitting your application. We will be happy to advise you.

We aim to let you know the outcome of your application to Bolton’s Fund: Micro Grants within 6 – 8 weeks of your application being submitted. Please do not plan any additional spend until after you hear if your application has been successful.
