Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS)

DBS checks are designed to help organisations make safer recruitment decisions by identifying individuals who may be unsuitable for certain areas of work, especially those which may involve contact with children or other vulnerable members.

These checks are carried out against the police national computer to see if an individual has any criminal record information against them. Under some circumstances, it may be necessary for your staff or volunteers to have a DBS check.

To understand more about DBS checks and learn about eligibility, you can use the DBS eligibility checker, it will help you assess whether a check is needed and what level is appropriate.

How it works

Bolton CVS works in partnership with Salford CVS as an Umbrella Body Agency (who carry out the checks). To arrange a DBS with Salford CVS please contact the team by calling 0161 787 7795 or emailing dbs@salfordcvs.co.uk

Checks can be done by making a face to face appointment with the Salford CVS team at their office in Eccles, or you can have a form posted out to your home address and have the check completed by video call. Check out the Salford CVS DBS checklist by clicking here!

DBS checks are also available through Bolton Council, please contact them by email hrcorporate@bolton.gov.uk for more information on their options of both face to face and online checks.
